AUDIO THING OF THE WEEK (CD, RECORD, TAPE) 12/6/03
Today we look at the tape that Calcarus gave to me last year which i found a few days ago. Taped off the radio sometime in the late 80s, early 90s, it's a strange blend of 80s techno and synth-trance. the first 'track' if you want to call it that is a strange version of the mission impossible theme, which isn't that bad and is easily the best song on there, but would still give you flashbacks of casio keyboards and synth drums. This is the competitor in the competetion i have going between that and a collection of french reggae. The cassette wars are on and so far the reggae is in the lead. The reggae uses the bond theme to make a strange up-beat french party song, which is also the best. The rest of the 80s tape mainly conisits of 100% electric instruments, the DJ screwing up and playing the wrong songs, then not knowing what to say and fucking things right over which is mildly amusing. On a scale of 1-10 i'de give this tape 3, because i'm sure someone liked it once.

MOVIE REVIEW - "Scooter Kidz - 2 Wheels, 2 Fast"
So get this, I was in Blockbuster last week and was looking for a wholesome watch when i came across this film, "Scooter Kidz". On the cover it showed some kid jpulling an x-treme move on one of those fold-up scooters. Intrigued, I read the back of the tape. The movie was supposed to be about a kid who's foster parents bought him a Razor scooter instead of a dirt-bike for his birthday. Now, what a kid who lives in the suburbs would want with a dirt-bike is beyond me, but he supposedly was disappointed at this. His foster brothers, also received scooters as 'early christmas presents'. This struk me as an unwise decision by the parents, because when christmas rolled around, the main kid would get xmas presents, and the others would get none, darkening the happy day. Anyway, the whole movie was put together as a cheap promotion for Razor scooters by Razor. It was shot terribly on a home video camera and has a 'kicking' soundtrack consisting of one artist, possibly the one that plays for their normal ads. The story was that this kid's foster brother was taken away because the house didn't have another bedroom and the family needed to raise the cash to get him back. Why? Because they love him of course and his new parents are evil. So the main guy enters a local scooter competition, conveniently put on by Razor and featuring more product placement than daytime TV. But alas, the local bully also enters, wanting to win the before the good guy because he's mean. The prize money was supposed to be the solution for building another room onto the house. Now, i'm no architect, but i would've though that a couple of grand just wouldn't cut it to build a whole new room. Anyway, the main guy is winning the comp and after hacing his scooter for 3 days, is able to do backflips and other stuff, hooray for realism. Typical ending, he wins, bully turns nice, kid comes hme, guy gets the girl. Utterly terrible but constant hilarity. Especially with the bloopers they forgot to edit out. 4/10
